CLAIMS AGAINST CITY OF SAINT PAUL
BY KAO YANG, VINCENT E. TOBECK, AND
SHIRLEY NOVACZYK
Claimant, Kao Yang, was involved in an automobile accident with
a City of Saint Paul, Department of Police, vehicle on July 29 ,
1981. The driver of the City vehicle was Sgt. Jerome J. LaValle.
Expenses are for the repair of the damaged vehicle . This office
approves the settlement of Nir. Yang's claim in the amount of
$500 .00 .
Claimant, Vincent E. Tobeck, requests reimbursement for damages
to his sidewalk which occurred on July 7 , 1981. Mr. Tobeck had
just replaced the City sidewalk in front of his home at his own
expense when a City of Saint Paul, Department of Public Works ,
lighting crew chipped the sidewalk while putting in new wiring
to a street light. Since r2r. Tobeck had replaced the City side-
walk at his own expense, and without request by the City, this
office approves the settlement of his claim in the amount of $50 .00 .
Claimant, Shirley Novaczyk, requests reimbursement for the damages
to her clothing which she incurred when she fell on a City side-
walk in front of 730 North Holtan Street on May 8 , 1981. There
was a four inch rise in the sidewalk which was asphalted on
May 19 , 191, after Ms . Novaczyk made a complaint to the Department
of Public Works . This office approves the settlement of
Ms . Novaczyk 's claim in the amount of $18 .44 .
