An ordinance amending the Saint Paul
Administrative Code; adding a new Chapter
78 relating to the compensation of election
judge.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1.
That Ordinance No. 16597 is hereby amended to read as follows:
That the compensation of judges of election serving
at elections held in the City of Saint Paul is hereby
fixed at �e���*-���ee-Be��a�e-a�e�-�����-6e��a-�$43:5A�
the prevailincr Minnesota minimum waae for each hour
spent carrvina out their duties at the pollincr places on
ge� election day and that additional compensation to
judges is hereby fixed at Five Dollars ($5.00) to the
judge designated by the City Clerk as Chairman of the
Election Board, at A�e-Be��a�-ar��-�����-Ce��s-�$�:�A�
One Dollar and Seventv Cents ($1.70) each to the judge
or judges of election designated by the City Clerk to
pick-up election supplies before each election, at 9�e
Be��a�-a��-�����-�e�ts-�$�:b9} One Dollar and Seventv
C�nts �$1.70� each to the judge or judges of election
designated by the City Clerk to return election supplies,
at +�re-Be��a�e-a�e�-��g���-6e��e-�$�:BA� Three Dollars
and Twentv Cents ($3.20) per meeting to each judge
for attending instruction meetings (which sum includes

(30) days from and after its passage, approval and publication.

SUB� : Compensation to election �udges.
ACTION REQUESTED :
Approval of ordinance for submission to City Council.
PURPOSE AND RATIQNALE FOR THIS ACTION :
Legislation adopted in the 1981 session of the legislature provides
for payment of prevailing Minnesota minimum wages to election judges.
Our present rate of $43.50 a day was based on the minimug� rate of $2.90
for 15 hours.
Ordinance also provides for codification of this provision in the
Adr_iinistrative Code.
FIt�ANCIAI IMPACT:
The 19�2 Budget proposal includes an appropriation to cover this increase.
The Budget appropriation for 19g2 is $29,051 �iore than 193� expenditures
and covers four elections.
