Supervision Received: Works under the general supervisidn of the Fire Chief. Supervision Exercised: May exercise general technical and administrative supervision over lower level clerical, technical, prof essional or uniformed employees. � TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Evaluates department operations and recommends appropriate actions. Directs department-wide data gathering and output development. Evaluates and intergrets laws and ordinances relating to Department activities. Participates in negotiation of outside f ire protection contracts. Assists in developing the annual operating budget. Coordinates development of capital improvement budget. � Supervises staff ineeting preparation and documentation. Supervises public f ire safety information and education efforts. Acts as department liaison with news media. Prepares responses to questionnaires from other agencies. Prepares memoranda, information releases and other administrative material. Supervises staff ineeting preparation and documentation. Prepares reports on selected matters of interest to the department. Provides information needed for labor relations. Represents the Fire Chief on certain committees and at various City and public meetings. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of fire service administration, research and operations. Considerable knowledge of the principles of research and administration. Considerable ability to communicate effectively both oraZly and in writing. Working knowledge of local, state and national government organization as related to the fire service. � Working ability to deal tactfully and eff iciently with all levels of manage- ment, employees and the general public.
