WHEREAS, Irving Serlin has been awarded the City of Hope
Spirit of Life Award for his many diversified philanthropic,
humanitarian, and civic activities ; and
WHEREAS, Irving Serlin is a life-long resident of St. Paul
and has operated his restaurant on Payne Avenue for over
34 years ; and
WHEREAS, Irving Serlin will be honored by his hundreds of
friends at a dinner on Sunday, January 4, 1981 , proceeds from
which will establish the Irving Serlin Medical Research
Fellowship at the City of Hope Medical Center in Los Angeles,
California; so, therefore, be it "
RESOLVED, that this Council , on its own behalf and on
behalf of the people of St. Paul , declares Sunday, January 4,
1981 , as Irv Serlin Day in St. Paul ; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council expresses to
Irving Serlin its deep appreciation for his. many contributions
to this city and this Council 's most sincere best wishes on
the occasion of this award.
