WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council are desirous of improving the
working conditions of all City employees; and
WF�REAS, Sexual harassment of City employees is an area of
concern that necessitates that the Mayor and Council condemn its
existence in all areas of society and adopt a policy and reporting
procedure for such conduct; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and Council hereby adopt the
attached policy and reporting procedure and direct its issuance
in the name of the Mayor and Council.

Sexual Harassment Policy
No employee, applicant for employment or client shall be subject to
any form of sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is any repeated and/or unwanted sexual attention that
a recipient f inds ob�ectionable or offensive. Sexual harassment may take
many forms, including any of the following:
--urnaanted sexual comments, innuendos or suggestions,
--suggestive or sexist remarks about a person's clothing,
body or sexual activity
--unwanted and unnecessary touching, brushing against, patting
or pinching
--displaying pictures or ob�ects depicting nude, scantily-clad
or suggestively posed women or men
--suggesting, requesting or demanding sexual favors accompanied
by implied or overt threats or promises.
The procedure for any employee who feels he/she has been harassed is
as follows:
1. Report incident to immediate supervisor either orally or
in writing.
2. If the problem rests with the immediate supervisor report
incident to his/her immediate supervisor.
Alternate procedure:
1. If you are unable or reluctant to report the incident to
supervisory personnel contact one of these a3ternative
divisions: Mayor's Information and Complaint Ofrice
personnel; any professional employee of the Personnel
Office; the Department of Human Rights.
This procedure is not intended to replace legal recourse for any actions which
violate criminal statutes. If such an illegal incident occurs, contact the
police department immediately.
If any employee notif ies his/her supervisor of unwanted or repeated problems in any
of the ways listed, the supervisor will take immediate steps to counsel the alleged
offender to cease such activity or be sub�ect to disciplinary action.
We expect and anticipate full cooperation in pursuing our mutual goal of a productive
and equal employment setting for all City business.
