WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Saint Paul did solicit
proposals from private corporations for a Cable Communications
Franchise within the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Seven proposals for a Ca.ble Communications Franchise
were submitted, reviewed and evaluated; and
WHEREAS, Public hearings were held wherein the prospective
franchise applicants were given an opportunity to present their
proposals before the City Council; and
WHEREAS, After extensive deliberations, the Council of the
City of Saint Paul has determined that awarding a franchise to a
non-profit corporation would be in the best interest of the citi-
zens of the City of 5aint Paul; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of Saint Paul, that all
applications for the Cable Communications Franchise within the
corporate limits of the City of Saint Paul which were filed with
the City Clerk on August l, 1980, are hereby rejected; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That it is the intent of the Council to
� award a Cable Communications Franchise within the City of Saint
Paul• to a non-profit corporation.
