RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by striking
from Section 32 the class specification for the title of Occupational

duties as assigned.
Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of a Registered Occupa-
tional Therapist.
Supervision Exercised: None.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMID
The listed exa�ples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Carries out student treatment programs in such areas as sensory integrative
development, enha.ncing and maintaining motor development, increasing
independence in daily living skills, and aiding in formal and informal
evaluation of students.
Constructs splinting and adaptive devices under the supervision of a
Registered Occupationa.l Therapist.
�rders and maintains supplies for the Occupational Therapy unit.
With assistance, plans and implements group and individual programs with
specific assigned individual students and groups of students.
Keeps Occupational Therapy attendance records, records of individual
programs planned for assigned students, and frequent progress notes
on each assigned student.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of principles and practices of professional occupational
therapy.
Working knowledge of the various types of inental and physical abnormalities.
Working ability to work with mentally or physically handicapped students.
Some ability to observe students progress and to prepare reports on that
progress.
Working ability to stimulate the interest of patients in the therapy program.
Appropriate health status to meet the physical and emotional demands of the

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of an approved course for Occupational Therapy Assistants and
certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association and either

We recommend your approval• and submission of this Resolution to the City Council.
PURPOSE AND RATIONALE FOR TAIS ACTION:
This resolution will revise the minimum qualifications for the class of
Occupational Therapy Assistant by requiring training or experience in
working with children. The School District requested this change and
it was approved by the minimum qualifications committee.
