An administrative Resolution establishing the
title for Food Service Equipment Specialist in
the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section
3. D (Equipment Maintenance, Ungraded, Group), by inserting in proper
alphabetical order the title of Food Service Equipment Specialist.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further amended
in Section 32 by inserting, in proper alphabetical order, the attached class
specification for Food Service Equipment Specialist.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
' General Stater�ent of Duties: Performs and supervises skilled and technical . -
work in maintaining and repairing the School District's food processing,
preparation, packaging and sanitation equipment; and performs related
work as assigned.
Supervision Received: Works under the general administrative direcrion of
a division or department head.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise within a division or department immediate
or close technical supervision over equipment and sanitation personnel.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMID
. The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Supervises and performs preventive maintenance on food service machines
and equipment.
Establishes and carries out a preventive maintenance program for all
equipment that affects the units production capability.
Directly oversees the set-up and adjustnent of all equipment.
Maintains a spare parts program with inventories needed to insure
availability of equipment parts.
� Instructs unit personnel in the correct nethods of set-up, adjustment and
care of equipment.
Supervises equipment and sanitation personnel.
Piakes general repairs on food service equipment including the removal and
placement of needed parts.
Sets up regular scheduled inspection and calibrating of� equipment. _
Keeps records of maintenance and equipment informa.tion.
Maintains liaison with equipment manufacturers.
Receives instruction and maintenance training and infornation from equipment
manufacturers and sanitation suppliers. ,
Calls in recommended and approved equipment service companies for major
repairs and service.
Reports immediately to Production Manager any abuse or malfunction of
equipment.

Working knowledge of schematics, prints and diagrams of food processing

Some knowledge of controls and electrical components of automated
food service equipnent.
Considerable knowledge of sanitation and food processing procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

We recommend your approval and submission of this Resolution to the City Council.
PURPOSE AND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTION:
This Resolution establishes the title of Food Service Equipment Specialist ia Section
3. D (Equipment Maintenance, Ungradedj of the Civi.l Service Rules and also establishes
the class specification for this title in Section 32 of the Civil Service Rules.

This title will be used in the new central kitchen in the School District�s School Cafeteria
Division.
The minimum qualifications have been approved by the Minimum Qualifications Sub-
C ommittee.
