WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul is proceeding with the de-
velopment of Energy Park in accordance with the concepts developed
during the Negotiated Investment Strategy process; and
WF�REAS, The City of Saint Paul is committed to develop pro-
grams which distribute a portion of the benefits of the Energy
Park project to those City residents most in need; and
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul recognizes the unique oppor-
tunity provided by Energy Park to develop an innovative site
specific program to provide training and jobs for young people
who need help in finding and holding an unsubsidized job; and
WHEREAS, The McKnigh� Foundation desires to assist the City
in its efforts to assist young people and establish a demonstra-
tion program consistent with the above objectives; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the City of Saint Paul gratefully accepts the
gift of $1,495,817 from the McKnight Foundation to be received
over a four-year period to fund the Energy Park Employment
Connections Project; and that the Mayor and Council, on behalf of
all the citizens of the City of Saint Paul, extend their deep and
heartfelt thanks to the McKnight Foundation for this generous
contribution in support of this timely and worthwhile program.
