WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul desires to honor the Captain and crew of the submarine
USS MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PALJL during its centennial celebration far the public service which
they have provided to the United States, the State of Minnesota and the City of St. Paul,
WIIEREAS, the mayor and the city council, on behalf of the citizens of St. Pau1, would
like to present tokens of appreciation to the Captain and crew for their selfless and committed
service,
WHEKEAS, nuxnerous local businesses have also expressed a desire to participate in a
demonstration of appreciation by generously donating the following items and services to the
City of St. Paul for its use in the distribution of "care packages" to the Captaan and crew at its
berth in Norfolk, Virginia:
Northwest Airlines: T-shirts; payxnent for the expense of luggage tags and
shipping for the care packages; payment of transportation
costs at its corporate rate for two (2) representatives of the
City for travel to Norfolk, Virginia for the presentation of
the care packages; and partial payxnent of one nighYs
accommodations for each of the city's representatives.
