WH�S, the Board of Independent School. District No. 625 has declared
the Baker School site is surplus real estate;and
WHEREAS, the School Board agrees to convey said site to the City of
Saint Pa�ul for $39,200.00, and f�indi.ng for payment to the School District
shall be from the sa.le proceeds from devela�pment of sa.id site; and
WHEREA.S, the City of Saint Pa.ul accepts Baker School site described
as follows:

Due to significant public interest in the use of the Baker School site, I
thought the following facts would be helpful to the Board of Education and
to ochers:
1) December 7, 1979 - - - Mayor Latimer wrote Jene Sigvertsen, Executive
Direccor of School Plant Planning 5 �laintenance, notifying the school dis-
[rict that the ". . . City of 5t. Paul wishes to acquire the Baker School
site for private development purposes. " The Mayor referred to a let[er
dated November 29, 1979 from Douglas Ford, City Division of Renewal [o Dick
Manning, Director, Property Management, and the development request for pro-
posal dated November 16, 1979, describing the intended use, compensation to ,
the Board of Educa[ion, and timeline for development.
a. Intended use taken from the November 16, 1979 request for proposal:
(1) The primary purpose of developing this site is to provide
quality housing for a wide market of families and individuals.
(2) A secondary purpose in development is to explore the feasi-
bility of rehabilitating the existing Baker School building ta
accommodate housing or office/retail space or a combination
Chereof.
2) January 8, 1980 - - - The Board of Education approved the conveyance of
the Baker School property to the City of St. Paul for the purposes communi-
cated tc the Board of Education by Mayor Latimer.
3) March 18, 1980 - - - The Baker School property belongs to the City of St.
Paul for use as communicated to the Board of Educa[ion described above. The
Board of Education has not received a notification from the City of S[. Paul
that the proposed use for the Baker School property has changed. If the City
of St. Paul determines that the proposed use for the property is changed, ttien
in accord with Board of EducaCion policy and procedures, the City must inform
the Board of Education for Board review and approval. If the City and the
Board cannot agree on a new use, the property reverts to the Board of Education.
