277508 WMITE - CITY CLERK ��p�{ p� PINK - FINANCE // ,� y� BLUE RY - MEnPAOR�TMENT C I T Y O F S A I N T PA LT L COUflC1I ^ i`!!r' ���[°� File ati U.� � o cil Resolu��on Presented By Referred T Committee: Date Out of Committee By Date WHEREAS, the cuts in federal and state aids to the City of Saint Paul has forced Mayor Latimer to propose a 1982 budget which recommends reductions in city services, such as closing nine recreation centexs, shortening the ; hours at all branch libraries, the elimination of one fire company and the reduction of 24 sworn police positions, and WHER�AS, the Mayor' s proposed 1982 budget recommends that the City no longer automatically distribute 50� of the Hotel Motel tax proceeds to the 5aint Paul Civic Center Authority and the Saint Paul Convention, Exhibition and Tourism Commission, but rather that the City budget a specific amount to cover approved expenses and that 5� of the gross tax collected be allowed for unspecified use to further promote hotel, convention, exhibition and tourism business within the City of Saint Paul. Now Therefore, �E IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon the re- commendation of Mayor Latimer, and in accordance with Section 25.08 of the Legislative Code, that the following Hotel Motel tax proceeds be paid to the Civic Center Authority during 1982 for assistance in financing the operations of the Saint Paul Convention, Exhibition and Tourism Commission: A. A total of $161,168 for specified purposes; said amount to be paid in eleven monthly installments of $13,430 and one monthly installment of $13,438, with payment dates to be determined by Manager of the Treasury Division, Department of Finance and Management Services. B. Five percent of the gross monthly receipts for unspecified uses be paid to promote hotel, convention, exhibition and tourism within the City of Saint Paul, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Civic Center Authority, after review of the Convention Bureau' s budget, continue to be responsible for distribution, monitoring and annual reporting of how these tax dollars are spent.
