1 WI-IEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, had an estimated 550 public and 350 private trees destroyed on the East
2 side of Saint Paul this past weekend (Juty 7 through July 9) when storms moved through the area Friday
3 moming, and

5 WHEREAS, the City's forestry crew has been working to remove trees and tree limbs from streeu and
6 sidewalks in the affected azeas, and
7
8 WHEREAS, the City is eaploring the possibiliTy of securing federal aid to pay for the needed cleanup, and
9
10 WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Sec[ion 10.072 of the Charter of the CiTy of Saint Paul, does certify that
11 there aze available for appropriation, funds of $500,000 in excess of those esYimated in the 2000 budget; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following additions be made to the 2000 budget:
