WHEREAS, the citizens and the Council of the City of �aint Paul
support the Polish people and workers in their progress toward more
democratic political and economic institutions; and
WHEREAS, demonstrations of such support will assist in showing
the Polish government and military leaders tha.t worldwide public
opinion is against their efforts to repress Solidarity, the Polish
free trade union federation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul supports the
Minnesota AFL-CIO together with the �vin Cities Polish community in
sponsoring a statewide prayer service for the Polish people, workers
and Solidarity; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that all possible efforts be ma.de by national !
and union leaders throughout the free world to persuade the Polish
government to end martial law, free political prisoners and interned
persons in Poland, and restore the free status of Solidarity and all
Polish workers and people as a force in increasing democracy and I,
freedom in that country: and, be it I
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul I
hereby declares Sunday, December 27 , 1981, as Polish Peoples, Workers
and Solidarity Day in Saint Paul.
