RE; Police Clothing Budget Amendment
ACTION REQUESTED:
I request your approval on the attached resolution for sub-
mission to City Council.
PURPOSE AND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTION:
The 1981 budget appropriationsfor police clothing allowances
were based on information available in May, I980 . Subsequent
to that time, the collective bargaining process resulted in
a new (and higher) per person clothing allowance. Approval
of this resolution is necessary to provide funds to cover the
cost of this settlement.
FINANCIAL IMPACT;
Shis budget amendment will provide an additional appropriation
to the police clothing allowance. Funding for this appropriation
is derived from collections of the Gross Earnings Franchise Fee.
The latest projections anticipate that this revenue will exceed
original budget estimates by an amount sufficient to fund
this amendment.
- ATTACHMENTS:
Police request and justification.

Dear Sir:
Enclosed please find a list of adjustments necessary to bring the
1981 budget for clothing allowance into conformance with the
Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Police Federation. Also
included are funds for damaged clothing and special allowances
for plain clothes officers who will be reassigned to Uniformed
Divisions after several years of plain clothes service.
I am, therefore, requesting that an additional appropriation be
made to the listed codes. Documentation for the calculations
is attached.
Sincerely,
am W. Cu on
