RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING
OF AN APPLICATION FOR AN URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACTION
GRANT FOR THE SELBY AVENUE COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION PROJECT
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul has been approached by several private development
intere�ts seeking to establish a general revitalization of the Selby and Western Avenues
area, through the rehabilitation of existing vacant structures, the construction of new
structures, and the provision of new residential , office and retail space; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that additional financial assistance is necessary
to ensure the joint success and completion of these various endeavors; and
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul is eligible for grant assistance under the Urban
Development Action Grant (UDAG) Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development; and
WHEREAS, the Selby Avenue Corrmercial Revitalization Project has been reviewed by
the Planning Commission and found to be in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan;
and
WHEREAS, the Project has also been reviewed by the Capital Improvement Budget
Committee, and is recommended by them for authorization; and
WHEREAS, the Project is now under review by the District 8 Community Council ; and
WHEREAS, the required public hearings upon this application have been held; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Counci1 of the City of Saint Pau1 does hereby approve the
filing of the Application for an Urban Development Action Grant for Selby Avenue
Commercial Revitalization Project and the project and activities therein proposed;
and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mayor George Latimer, as Chief Executive Office of the
City, is hereby authorized and directed to submit said Urban Development Action Grant
Application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in such form as
prescribed by the regulations of said Department; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Mayor, or his designated representatives, is further
authorized to execute and submit to the U,S, Department of Housing and Urban Development
any assurances, certifications, or additional information that may be required by said
Department during their review of the City's Urban Development Action Grant and
Application for Federal Assistance,
