RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR AN URBAN
DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT FOR THE BROADWAY SQUARE PROJECT
6�JHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul has been approached by private development interests
seeking to provide a new site for the Farmer's Market within the City's downtown, as well
as to rehabilitate an existing building to provide new housing, retail and office
facilities; and
WHEREAS, it has been found that additional financial assistance is necessary to
ensure the continuation of this proposed development; and
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul is eligible for grant assistance under the Urban
Development Action Grant (UDAG) Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development; and
WHEREAS, the Broadway Square Project has been reviewed by the Planning Corr�nission
and found to be in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Broadway Square Project has also been reviewed by the Capital Improvement
Budget Committee, and is recommended by them for authorization; and
WHEREAS, the Project is under review by the Downtown Community Development Council ;
and
WHEREAS, the required public hearings upon the application have been held; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve the filing
of the Application for an Urban Development Action Grant for the Broadway Square Project,
and the project and activities therein proposed; and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mayor George Latimer, as Chief Executive Office of the City,
is hereby authorized and directed to submit said Urban Development Action Grant Application
to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in such form as prescribed by the
regulations of said Department; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the hlayor, or his designated representatives, is further
authorized to execute and submit to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
any assurances, certifications, or additional information that may be required by said
Department during their review of the City's Urban Development Action Grant and Application
for Federal Assistance.
