WHEREAS, the St. Paul Civic Center is in serious need of repairs
to its parking ramp; and
WHEREAS, the use of the General Fund or CIB resources cannot be
justified due to the City's budget constraints; and
WHEREAS, such costs are best defrayed by relying on revenues from
the Hospitality Industry, which most directly benefits from the
existence of the Civic Center;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Paul City Council supports
increasing the existing City Hotel/Motel tax from 3% to 6%.
