CLAIMS AGAINST CITY OF SAINT PAUL
BY GORDON HOLMQUIST; WILLIAM BLACK
AND JEANNE BLACK; LOUISE M. GOODEN;
and RUSS PETERSON
On October 5 , 1982 , a City of Saint Paul truck driven by employee
Rudolph Martinez crossed the center line on Minnehaha near Ravioli
and struck the front end of a vehicle driven and owned by claimant,
Gordon Holmquist. Mr. Holmquist's auto was damaged in the amount
of $270 .22 . This office approves the settlement of Mr. Holmquist 's
claim in the amount of $270 .22 .
Claimants William Black and Jeanne Black , request reimbursement
for property damage resulting from a sewer backup at their home
located at 1602 East Maryland. It was discovered by the Sewer
Division of Public Works that their sewer line had not been
connected to the main sewer line. This problem has now been
corrected. This office approves the settlement of their claim
in the amount of $1,400 .00 .
On October 1, 1982 , there was a plugged main sewer at 917 Iglehart
which caused a flooded basement at this location. The homeowner,
claimant Louise Gooden, had to pay Roto Rooter $76 .95 to clean
out her sewer as a result of the City of Saint Paul 's main sewer
being plugged. This office approves the settlement of Ms . Gooden's
claim in the amount of $76 .95 .
On July 16 , 1982 , Saint Paul Police Officer Terrance Gritzmacher
was directing traffic at University and Snelling. A vehicle
driven and owned by claimant, Russ Peterson, was at this location
also. Officer Gritzmacher struck his baton on Mr. Peterson's
vehicle and dented the vehicle in several places. Officer Gritzmacher
was trying to detain Mr. Peterson's vehicle and decided to strike
the vheicle in an effort to do so. Mr. Peterson' s vehicle was
damaged in the amount of $254 .96 . This office approves the settle-
ment of Mr. Peterson's claim in the amount of $254 .96 .
