RESOLVED, That upon execution and delivery of a release in full
to the City, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, the
proper City officers are hereby authorized and directed to pay
out of the Tort Liability Fund 09070-511-000 , to:
1. Michael Crawford the sum of $620 .76 in full settlement of
his claim of damages sustained on or about May l, 1982 , as
more particularly set out in the Summons from Ramsey County
Conciliation Court received in the City Attorney 's office
on August 13 , 1982 .
2 . Dorothy Brown the sum of $354 .95 in full settlement of her
claim of damages sustained on or about July 23, 1982 , as
more particularly set out in the Notice of Claim filed in
the City Clerk 's office on August 5 , 1982 .
3. Western National Insurance Company and Lorraine Marka the
sum of $301. 51 in full settlement of his claim of damages
sustained on or about April 3 , 1982 , as more particularly
set out in the Notice of Claim filed in the City Clerk 's
office on April 23, 1982 .
4 . John J. LaBrocca the sum of $41.00 in full settlement of his
claim of damages sustained on or about July 19 , 1982 , as
more particularly set out in the Notice of Claim filed in
the City Clerk's office on August ll, 1982 .
5 . James M. Wilford the s.um of $262 .40 in full settlement of
his claim of damages sustained on or about July 10 , 1982 ,
as more particularly set out in the Notice of Claim filed
in the City Clerk 's office on July 21, 1982 .

M E M O R A N D U M
CLAIMS AGAINST CITY OF SAINT PAUL
BY MICHAEL CRAWFORD; DOROTHY BROWN;
WESTERN NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY
AND LORRAINE MARKA; JOHN J. LaBROCCA;
and JAME5 M. WILFORD
Claimant, Michael Crawford, requests reimbursement for medical
expenses and damage to his bicycle which he incurred when he
rode over a catch basin grating causing his bike to flip. A
check with the Department of Public Works showed that no com-
plaints had been previously been made for the location of Hamline
and Thomas but Public Works adjusted the catch basin grate to
better accomodate bicycle traffic. This office approves the
settlement of Mr. Crawford 's claim in the amount of $620 .76 .
On July 23, 1982 , a City of Saint Paul Public Works truck, �lriven
by James McDonough, Jr. , was behind the alley of 727 Lincoln
picking up debris . The truck went out of control and struck a
parked car owned by claimant, Dorothy Brown. The damage to
Mrs . Brown's car was in the amount of $354 .95 . This office approves
the settlement of Mrs . Brown 's claim in the amount of $354 .95 .
On April 3, 1982 , a City of 5aint Paul Department of Police vehicle,
driven by John Thomas , rear-ended a vehicle owned by claimant,
Lorraine Marka. Officer Thomas was unable to stop in time because
of the icy street conditions and he slid into Mrs. Marka 's car
which was stoppped for a triffic light. Ms . Mark is insured by
Western National Insurance Comapny. The amount of damages to her
car are $301. 51 . This office approves the settlement of their
claim in the amount of $301.51.
Claimant, John J. LaBrocca, requests reimbursement for medical
expenses incurred when he fell on the walkway of the Concession
Building at Como Park. Water was dripping onto the walkway from
an overhead drain. The condition was brought to the attention
of the Parks Department and the matter has been taken care of.
This office approves the settlement of Mr. LaBrocca's claim in
the amount of $41.00 .

On July 10 , 1982 , a City of Saint Pau1 Department of Police vehicle,
driven by Reserve Officer ponald Schaffer, rear-ended a vehicle
owned by claimant, James Wilford. Mr. Wilford was stopped at the
intersection of Montreal and West 7th Street and Reservist Schaffer
tried to stop but the pavement was wet and oily and our vehicle
slid into Mr. Wilford's and damaged it in the amount of $262 .40 .
This office approves the settlement of Mr. Wilford's claim in the
amount of $262 .40 .
