Presented By Referred To Committee: Date Out of Committee By Date WHEREAS, January 15th marks the birth of Martin Luther King; and WHEREAS, The actions and efforts of Martin Luther King have served as an inspiration to the citizens of the City of Saint Paul, State of Minnesota, and of this entire country; and WHEREAS, Many citizens and community groups of the City of Saint Paul wish to recognize the great achievements in human and civil rights accomplished in great part through the efforts of Martin Luther King; and WHEREAS, This Council has recognized these achievements in the past by Resolution, and wishes to continue such recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of Saint Paul that the City of Saint Paul recognizes the i.mmense contribution of Martin Luther King creating a high quality of life for all citizens of this country regardless of race, creed, or color; and, be it FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby designates January 15th as D�artin Luther Iiing Day in the City of Saint Paul; and, be it FINALLY RESOLVED, That emplayees of the City be assigned normal work hours on Martin Luther King Day, . but that they may, pursuant to the exist,ing resolutions and to the provisions of the existing collective bargaining agreements, utilize a floating holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.
