RE: Zoning notification distances
WHEREAS, Section 64.400 of the Zoning Code authorizes the City Council to
change code regulations; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Code has established uniform notification distances
for all the public hearings it requires; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Division and Valuations Division recanmend� passing
the cost of acquiring public hearing rolls on to zoning applicants; and
WHEREAS, the distance requirements may be longer than necessary for certain
types of zoning cases, thereby increasing the cost of the public hearing
without increasing the effectiveness of citizen participation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council directs the Planning
Division to conduct a 40-Acre Study for the purpose of recommending shorter
distances for notifications of certain types of public hearings that are
required under the Zoning Code.
