Much planning and discussion have taken place relative to this move. The final decision to relocate in the mall rests upon whether the dollars to finance the move are available. To review the financial picture, the following summary may be helpful : First Year Unidale Costs 1. Minimum Rent $ 9 ,924 . 00 2. Additional Rent 8 , 388. 00 3. Leasehold Improvements 31, 992. 00 4. Utilities 3, 000. 00 5. Repairs 325. 00 Total First Year Co�ts $53 ,629 . 00 Our current revenues to pay the relocation costs can be summarized as follows : 1982 Current West Sector Location $12 ,200. 00 Less Current Expenditures 6,008. 00 (Estimated through June 30) $ 6 ,112 . 00 1982 Proposed Council Transfer 17 ,750. 00 Total 1982 Revenues Available $23, 862 . 00 Since it is realistic to assume that no relocation could occur before July l, 1982 , the annual first year costs which will need to be paid O Mr. Greg Blees -2- May 14 , 1982 from 1982 monies are approximately $26,815. 00 ($53,629. 00 : 2) . With projected 1982 monies available of $23, 862 . 00 , the Department finds itself with a $2 ,953. 00 revenue shortfall ($26 ,815. 00 - $23 , 862 . 00) . The 1983 costs associated with relocation to the Unidale Mall can be projected to be: 1983 Unidale Costs 1. Minimum Rent $ 9 ,924 . 00 2. Additional Rent ($8,388 . 00 x 1. 10) 9 ,227 .00 3. Leasehold Improvements ($31,992 . 00 : 2) 15,996. 00 4. Utilities ($3, 000. 00 x 1.10) 3, 300. 00 5. Repairs ($325. 00 x 1. 10) 358 . 00 Total 1983 Costs $38 ,805. 00 In summary, to relocate our West Sector Patrol Station from the present Edgcumbe School site to the Unidale Mall will require an additional trans- fer of $2 ,953. 00 into the Police Department 1982 budget. Also, a com- mitment to relocate carries with it a commitment to fund the 1983 costs. An expedited decision on the transfer of monies and the commitment to the future is required.
