Dear Mr. Ble
Attached you wi 1 find a letter from Mr. Doug Seward, Leasing Manager
for Kraus-Anderson, detailing budget costs for relocating our West
Sector Patrol Station from the Edgcumbe School site to the Unidale
Mall.
Much planning and discussion have taken place relative to this move.
The final decision to relocate in the mall rests upon whether the
dollars to finance the move are available.
To review the financial picture, the following summary may be helpful :
First Year Unidale Costs
1. Minimum Rent $ 9 ,924 . 00
2. Additional Rent 8 , 388. 00
3. Leasehold Improvements 31, 992. 00
4. Utilities 3, 000. 00
5. Repairs 325. 00
Total First Year Cots $53 ,629 . 00
Our current revenues to pay the relocation costs can be summarized
as follows :
1982 Current West Sector Location $12 ,200. 00
Less Current Expenditures 6,008. 00
(Estimated through June 30) $ 6 ,112 . 00
1982 Proposed Council Transfer 17 ,750. 00
Total 1982 Revenues Available $23, 862 . 00
Since it is realistic to assume that no relocation could occur before
July l, 1982 , the annual first year costs which will need to be paid
O
Mr. Greg Blees -2- May 14 , 1982
from 1982 monies are approximately $26,815. 00 ($53,629. 00 : 2) .
With projected 1982 monies available of $23, 862 . 00 , the Department
finds itself with a $2 ,953. 00 revenue shortfall ($26 ,815. 00 - $23 , 862 . 00) .
The 1983 costs associated with relocation to the Unidale Mall can be
projected to be:
1983 Unidale Costs
1. Minimum Rent $ 9 ,924 . 00
2. Additional Rent ($8,388 . 00 x 1. 10) 9 ,227 .00
3. Leasehold Improvements ($31,992 . 00 : 2) 15,996. 00
4. Utilities ($3, 000. 00 x 1.10) 3, 300. 00
5. Repairs ($325. 00 x 1. 10) 358 . 00
Total 1983 Costs $38 ,805. 00
In summary, to relocate our West Sector Patrol Station from the present
Edgcumbe School site to the Unidale Mall will require an additional trans-
fer of $2 ,953. 00 into the Police Department 1982 budget. Also, a com-
mitment to relocate carries with it a commitment to fund the 1983 costs.
An expedited decision on the transfer of monies and the commitment to
the future is required.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Very truly yours,
Wm. W. D4cCutcheon
