Subject: ATTACHED ORDINANCE Date: 219
I believe that this proposed ordinance chanqe is:
1. Consistent with the remainder of the "Electrical Work" section of the fees
ordinance for H&BCE Division;
2. Certainly consistent with other sections, e.q. , "Plumbina", where our fees
increase with each additional fixture to be inspected.
The general principle, as I understand it, is that increments in number of fixtures
or devices to be examined means an increase in fee.
I've attached the "Electrical Work" section into which ths amendment wauld fit, marked
to show where it would go (3rd page - which, b coincidence, is the start of the
"Plumbing" section. You can see the parallel kind of fee arrangement there.)
Have I missed something. that is bothering you about this one?
Or were you planning to install an electric heater in your basement sometime in the
future?

MEMO T0 : Tom Kel 1 ey Yas FaCE

SUBJECT : Permit for E ectric Space Heating
A new interest in electric space heating has developed . The
extra time needed in reviewing the permit application , and
additional inspection time required , is not reflected in our
fee schedule .
The attached ordinance amendment was prepared to provide fee
income to cover our costs for these special installations .
Using the roughest of estimates ( 10 percent of the dwelling
units constructed in 1982 will have electric heat) approximately
84 dwelling units , at an average fee of $30 , will provide $2520
in additional income.
