RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION
WITH THE MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR A COOPERATIVE
AGREEMENT TO FUND A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER
WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul has been actively involved in the provision of
business assistance to small and minority-owned businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Minority Business Development Agency (Agency) , of the U.S. Department
of Commerce, has announced intentions to assist in the establishment of a Business
Development Center in the Twin Cities SMSA area, through a Cooperative Agreement
by which the Agency will provide 90% of the funding for 12 months, with the
remaining 10% of the funding coming from the grantee through fees collected from
clients; and
WHEREAS, this Business Development Center will enable the City to further enhance
its present activities in assisting minority-owned businesses, while utilizing
existing staff and resources; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve the
filing of the Application for a Cooperative Agreement with the Agency; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mayor George Latimer, as Chief Executive Officer of the
City, is hereby authorized and directed to submit said Application to the Agency
in such form as prescribed by regulations, and to execute and submit to the Agency
any assurances, certifications, or additional information that may be required
by the Agency during their review of the City's Application.
