The meeting was called to order at 1:30 p.m.
STAFF PRESENT: Steve Magner, Code Enforcement; Mike Urmann, Fire Prevention
394 Eichenwald Street
Kevin Bordena�e, owner, appeazed to request a variance from the requirement to haue fire rated
doors. The building was built in 1964 or 1965.
Gerry Strathman asked are these the original doors. Mr. Bordenave responded he is not sure.
Mike Urmann reported he would have no objection to a variance.
Gerry 5trathman granted a variance on the nonconforming doors on the following conditions: 1)
when the nonconfornung doors need to be replaced, they will be replaced with conforming fire
rated doors, 2) the building will otherwise be in compliance.

(No one appeared to represent the property.)
Mike Urmann reported he has no objection to a variance. He was unable to reach the owners.

Racquel Naylor, Secretary, stated she received a call from Paula Seeley, Code Enforcement, who
said the condemnation was withdrawn, but there were still repairs needed to be done. Ms. Seeley
also said that she is having a hard time reaching the owner.
Gerry Strathman denied the appeal.
384 Cayuga Street
Patricia Stitzel, owner, appeared and stated she received a notice to fix her roof, but does not
have the funds. She is not working right now. She was planning to fix the roof next year

because she wants to sell the house. Her dad patched a spot on the garage.
Gerry Strathman asked does it leak. Ms. Stitzel responded it is weather beaten but it does not
leak.
(Ms. Stitzel showed photographs to Gerry Strathman. The photographs were later retumed.)
Gerry Slrathman asked how old is the roof. Ms. Stitzel stated the house is 21 yeazs oid and this
is the original roof to the house.
Steve Magner reported the roof needs to be replaced. He would like to see a date as to when it
will be done.
Is there any information about whether the roof is water tight, asked Mr. Strathman. Mr. Magner
responded the shingles aze deteriorated and curly. Once they reach that stage, they are
suscepfible to wind damage. The integrity of the structure is gone.
Mr. Strathman asked when she is willing to fix the roof . Ms. Sritzel responded next summer.
She is graduating in two weeks and may not be working until fall. She has a lot of bills and does
not have the income or credit to do the roo£ Ms. Stitzel has looked into some credit programs,
but they wanted her to live in the house for ten yeazs afterward. That is not her plan.
Mr. Strathman granted an extension to June 30, 2001, to bring the roof into compliance sub}ect to
the condition that the roof retains its functional integrity. If the roof begins to leak, the repairs
will have to be made immediately.
