An Ordinance amending Chapter 11
of the Saint Paul Legislative Code per-
taining to the City Market.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1
That Section 11. 01 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code entitled
"Market established; location, " is hereby amended by striking certain
provisions contained therein and replacing instead and in lieu thereof
the following:

Broadway St. , Fifth St. and Wall St. , St. Paul, Minn. , legally
described as: Lots 1 thru 6, Block 13, Whitne and Smith' s
Addition and that portion of Kittson' s Addition adjacent thereto
and lying between said Lots 1 thru 6 and Broadway St. and be-
tween Fourth Street and Fifth Street, and together with such
additions and extension as hereafter be made thereto, is hereby
designated and estab�.3shed as the City Market of the City of
Saint Paul for the barter and sale of ineat, fruit, vegetables,
garden truck, and other products of the farm, garden, green-
house, apiary or of the fdrest, and other approved products,
subject to all the regulations and provisions of this chapter,
to all other laws and ordinances relative thereto and to such
other rules and regulations governing the same which may be
promulgated and posted by the director of the department of
planning and economic development. (Code 1956, as amended, �290. 01. )

Section 2
That Chapter 11 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby
amended by the addition of a new 5ection 11.19 entitled "Lease of
Market" to read as follows:
11. 19. Lease of Market. The City of 5aint Paul pursuant to
Section 51. 01 (9) of the Saint Paul Administrative Code
may lease or cause the Market to be sublet to an individual
or individuals, group or groups, organization or organiza-
tions, on such conditions as deemed appropriate by the City,
provided however that the Market may not be used for anv-
thing other than the purposes a5 specifically provided in
Chapter 11, and provided further that the Lessee of the
Market shall be liable and responsible for the ayment of
any and all taxes, special assessments, or service charges
of �ahatever nature accruing during the term of the Lease
and which is imposed against the Market.
Section 3
That in all other respects Chapter 11 of the Saint Paul Legislative
Code shall remain in effect.
Section 4
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30)
days after passage and publication but shall be retroactive as of
May l, 1982.

Amends Legislative Code to establish Fifth and Broadway as `location of -
St. Paul Farnters Market and to permit City to lease property for purposes
permitted under Chapter 11 .
