• RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further
amended in Section 32 by inserting, in proper alphabetical order, the

General Statement of Duties: Performs skilled clerical work in maintaining
accurate records of vehicle repair and maintenance activities, including
billing, accounts payable, vehicle records, timekeeping and related office
duties; and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of a unit head.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise within the unit technical or adminis-
trative supervision i�irectly over lower level clerical workers. �
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Directs and performs the clerical work involved in the repair and maintenance
of City vehicles.
Assigns, organizes, supervises and reviews the work of subordinate clerical
workers.
Reviews repair orders for completeness and proper coding, computer parts
and labor costs and charges the cost to the proper unit.
Maintains records of repair and maintenance costs for each vehicle.
Reviews suppliers bills for accuracy, insures that parts were received
and properly charged out and directs payment of bills.
Orders parts and supplies on contract and requisitions office supplies and
equipment.
Prepares repair estimates for City vehicles involved in accidents.
Directs and performs the preparation and/or audit of timesheets, payroll
records and other time related records for repair facility employees.
Prepares and types regular and special reports.
Audits truck rental hours and bills user department.
Maintains fuel consumption records.
Records vehicle repair and maintenance charges; may input data into computer
terminal and edit output for accuracy.
Trains subordinate clerical workers and instructs mechanics in work order
procedures.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices and policies.
Considerable knowledge of vehicle parts and the repair and maintenance
situations in which they are used.
Working ability to make arthmetic computations with speed and accuracy.
Considerable skill in the operation of specialized office equipment.
Working ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others.

We recommend your approval and submission of this Resolution to the City Council.
PURPOSE AND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTION
This Resolution esta.blishes the ti.tle and class specification for Vehicle
Maintena.nce Cle rk in Grade 22 of Se ction 3.B eCle rical Group) of the
Civil Service Rules. This class provides specialized clerical support
for vehicle ma.intenance and repair faciliti.es.
The bi-weekly salary range for Grade 22 i.s as follows:

FINANCIAL IMPACT
