RE: Claim of Rose M. Hansen
On September 4, 1980, Rose Hansen fell on Sixth Street between
Minnesota and Cedar Streets. She claimed she fell over a large
barricade whose metal base extended out onto the travel portion
of the sidewalk. Ms. Hansen was treated by Dr. A. Jones and
incurred approxima.tely $265.00 in medical expenses.
She brought an action in Conciliation Court against the City of
St. Paul and we in turn made a claim against McGough Construction
Company, the general contractor on the project. Ms. Hansen was
awarded $300.00 against the City of Saint Paul only and we appealed.
Ultima.tely we have settled the claim with McGough and the City
each paying $150.00. We have already received the contribution
from McGough. The Office of the City Attorney recommends approval
of this settlement.
