1 An Administrative Resolution amending the Salary Plan and Rates
2 of Compensation Vacation section by increasing the deadline for
3 using additional vacation time carried over into the year 2000 for

accrued vacation time in 1999 and have had to carry over into the yeaz 2000 such time in excess
of the normally allowed one hundred twenty hours; and
6 WHEREAS, because of Y2K preparation and criminal case management system
7 priorities, certain employees of the City Attorney's Office have been unable to use all hours of

designated employees of the City Attorney's Office.
WHEREAS, paragraph three of Section LH. entitled VACATION, of the Salary Plan and
Rates of Compensation states,
"The head of the department may pernut an
employee to carry over into the following year up to
one hundred and twenty hours, or in the Fire Service
the number of hours worked for three weeks. ff for
emergency reasons the department head determines
that additional cany over is necessary for an
employee, then the employee shall ask the Director
Of Human Resources to allow that additional time
be carried over. Such additional days must be used
wittun the first three months of the following yeaz."
and;
WHEREAS, because of work priorities such employees of the City Attorney's Office
have not been able to use their additionai carried over vacation time within the first three months
of the year 2000; now, therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, that employees of the City Attorney's O�ce who have additional ume b0 �3�
3 carried over into the year 2000 as a result of 1999 Y2K preparation and criminal case
4 management system priorities may, with the approval of the Director of Human Resources, use
5 such vacation time within the first six months of the year 2000 instead of the first three months as
6 designated by the Salary Plan and Rates of Compensation; and, be it
8 FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect the first pay period
9 following its passage and approval.

Because of Y2K preparation and criminal case management system priorities in 1999, certain
employees in the City Attorney's Office assigned to these projects had to carry over
vacation into the year 2000 in excess of the no�a1 120 hours. Ongoing work priorities in
CAO in the year 2000 have made it impossible for these employees to use this vacation time
by March 31st and an extension of time to use this vacation is therefore being requested
Employees will be able to use vacation time earned,
