WHEREAS, the St . Paul City Council and Mayor share the national
concern that foreign competition not surpass the sophistication
of the American computer industry; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that said competition represents a
threat to our national economic vitality and national security; and
WHEREAS, the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation
(MCC) has been established to meet this foreign challenge; and
WHEREAS, the Minneapolis-St . Paul Metropolitan Area with its
vast computer industry comp lex and supportive infrastructure ,
major university, accessibility by air , quality of life , and
supportive state and local government can provide a unique environ-
ment for the success of the MCC; and
WHEREAS, the Twin Cities can rapidly provide numerous sites with
the desired amenities and necessary proximity to the University
of Minnesota to aid in the rapid start-up of this vital effort;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of St . Paul that the City Council strongly supports the effort
to attract the MCC to the Twin Cities and commits itself to
assist the MCC to locate here and to achieve a rapid and successful
start-up .
