279953 WHITE - CITV CLERK ��995� PINK - FINANCE G I TY OF SA I NT PALT L Council CANARV - DEPARTMENT BLUE - MAVOR File NO. � o ncil Resolution � Presented By � Referred To Committee: Date Out of Committee By Date WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul and the State of Minnesota have a shortage of developed indigeneous fuels and have pursued means of becoming more energy self-sufficient; and WHEREAS, the District Heating System helps to fulfill Saint Paul 's energy needs by providing an efficient and economical means of distributing hot water to comme rcial , industrial , or residential customers for space heating, domestic hot water, and industrial processing needs; and WHEREAS, the District Heating System will conserve energy while also booster- ing Saint Paul 's business climate, helping to control energy-related inflation, creating productive jobs in the private sector, and improving Saint Paul 's air and water quality; and WHEREAS, the success of the District Heating System was made possible by the cooperative efforts of the District Heating Development Company, the City of Saint Paul , the private sector, nanprofit foundations and organizations, local trades and labor associations , Northern States Power Company, and the county, state, and federal governments ; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the City Council proclaims March 14, 1983, as District Heating Day in Saint Paul , Minnesota.
