WHEREAS, unemployment has reached record levels in the Twin Cities Metropolitan
area, and
WHEREAS, the chronically unemployed are unable to actively search for jobs due
to financial restrictions which make it impossible to provide their own
transportation, and
WHEREAS, many unemployed desire to have jobs, but cannot pay for the transportation
necessary to seek them, and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul wishes to provide every opportunity available to
the jobless in these times of economic difficulty, and
WHEREAS, the City wishes and encourages other governmental bodies to provide
similar opportunities;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of St. Paul go on record in support of
the "Job Search Proposal�' •C.recommended to the M.T.C. by Capitol Community Services
Incorporated whereby the M.T.C. would provide free or reduced fares to the chronically
unemployed, through Job Services organizations as outlined in the proposal� �
