ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON
THE RATIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT FOR
SANITARY SEWER IN WHITHALL STREET FROM EDGERTON TO 22 FEET WEST
The final costs for the sanitary sewer in WHITALL were $11,153.86 as opposed
to the estimated $8,800. The recommended assessment for this project is 50%
of the total cost or $5,576.93. This recommended assessment is less than
the estimated assessment of $7,730.00 in part because of previous assessments
in the area and in part because of the extremely low land on the south side
of Edgerton (Norm' s Auto Parts property) .
As a result, the recommended assessment of $5,576.93 will be assessed against
the two lots which benefit from the new sewer (i.e. Lots 4 and 5, Block 1
Edmund Rice's First Addition) .
The property owned by Norm's Auto Parts will not be assessed at this time
for this sewer. The City records will, however, be appropriately noted
so that the property will pay an assessment for sewer at such time as it
would ever be developed.

At the February 9, 1983 Public Works Committee meeting action was taken
as follows :
1. RATIFICATION OF ASSESSMENTS for construction of a sanitary sewer in
WHITALL STREET from Edgerton St. to 220 feet west. Also , construction
of sanitary sewer service connections. Public hearing 2/15/83.
Recommended approval at $1 , 135. 50 for each lot to be assessed.
2. FINAL ORDER: To decide on the grading �, paving of the North-South
Al1ey in Block 3, College Place Taylor' s Division from the East-tiJest
Al1ey to Pierce Butler Route. Also, constructing a sewer in the alley
for storm water purposes (bounded by Pierce Butler Route, Charlotte,
Taylor and Aldine Streets) . Also slope construction in the grading
and paving of said alley. Public hearing 2/15/83. �
Recommended approval.
3. FINAL ORDER: To decide on whether to proceed with the improving of
ARLINGTON AVENUE from East � Shore Drive to Hazelwood St. by regrading,
paving, constructing B-624 curb � gutter with full depth asphalt pave-
ment, constructing an ornamental lighting system and reconstructing
concrete walks � drives where necessary. Also, constructing a storm
se�oer from English St: to 320 feet West of English St .
Public hearing 2/22/83.
Recommended approval.
4. FINAL ORDER: To decide on whether to proceed with the construction
and/or reconstruction of sidewalks in conjunction with the proposed
improvements of ARLINGTON AVENUE from East Shore Drive to Hazelwood
Street. Public hearing 2/22/83.
Recommended approval.
5. VACATION: Petition of Vomela Specialty Company, et al , for the vacation
for that part o£ Mi.ssissippi St. adjacent to Lot 5, Blk. S , Dayton' s
Addition for construction of a 2nd floor of a now existing buildina
that encroaches onto the street right-of-way. Public hearing 2/15/83.
Recommended approval .
