WHEREAS, October 10 - 16th has been designated as Fire Prevention
Week, and
WHEREAS, October 16, 1983 is the Second Annual National Fallen
Firefighters ' Memorial Observance for fallen firefighters , and
WHEREAS, The Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service is dedicated
to the memory of America' s firefighters who have lost their lives while
serving the people of their communities, and
WHEREAS, it is a tribute from a grateful Nation to the too often
unheralded gallantry and personal sacrifice of our country' s firefighters,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul proclaim
October 16, 1983 as a day of recognition and tribute to all of the
fallen firefighters of our community who have lost their lives in
dedicated service to our city, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that Fire Prevention Week, October lOth thru
the 16th be recognized by the citizens of St. Paul as a week long effort
to prevent the unnecessary loss of life, both of its citizens and the
firefighters dedicated to protecting them, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent to John
Gannon, President of the International Association of Fire Fighters ,
Richard Johnson, President of the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters,
and Gary Trudeau, President of the St. Paul Fire Fighters Local 21.
