Mr. Steven Conroy, Fire Chief
St. Paul Fire Department
101 East Tenth Street
St. Paul, MN 55101
Dear Chief Conroy:
This is to confirm our recent telephone discussion regarding a contractual agreement
for inspections of hotels/motels/resorts within the city of St. Paul .
As you are well aware, April 11th, 1983, was the effective date of when the 1982
edition of the Uniform Fire Code became law. With this changes; updating and amend-
ments, it is necessary that we provide you with a refresher course as well as in-
struction in inspection and enforcement procedures to be followed in enforcing the
new code.
Enclosed is a contractual agreement to be completed and signed by your local governing
body. The contractual agreement is needed in order to reflect current per diem rates
and accurately depict the 40 hour refresher course. As we discussed, you will not be
requesting per diem rates of any type. This contractual agreement must be completed
and returned to us before we can proceed with the 40 hours of training.
Further, I have set a stipulation for only one person to attend the course whereby
we would pay per diem and/or handout materials free of charge. If any additional
persons want to attend on their own funds, we will require a written request for
approval so that we can adjust class sizes accordingly.
As I stated reviousl '
P y, we have;have the contract signed and returned to us before
we can proceed with the training. We will process the returns and arrange the classes
on a first come first served basis. Training dates and class participants will be

If you have any further questions and/or comments, please contact me directly.
We look forward to seeing a staff inember(s) at the upcoming training course.
Sincerely,
