General Statement of Duties: Performs skilled technical and supervisory
work involved in preparing Civic Center facilities for an event or
production; and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Civic
Center Operations Director or Managing Director.
Supervision Exercised: Exercises within the unit immediate technical super-
vision over laboring and trades workers.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in

Repairs and maintains spot lights, carbon-arc quartz inca�descents, and other
lighting equipment, both portable and stationary.
Repairs stage lighting instruments such as lekos, fresnel, scopes and music
racks, including re-lamping of stage electrical equipment being used as
stage lighting.
Maintains and repairs stage platforms, scenery, portable stages and steps,
risers and related equipment.
Performs and supervises the setting up and taking down and storage of all
stage-related equipment. �
Supervises the hanging of all over-head temporary signs, curtains, drapes,
etc. , for an event.
Operates s�aitchboard-panel, dimmer bank and instrument cable, spiders; gets
frames for lights.

This resoluti.on will revise the specification for Stage Technician and star (�) • abolish
except,as to gresent incumbents - the class of Public Addrees Operator. The Stage
Technician specification is being changed to incorporate duties of th.e Public Address
Ope�a,tor, revise the minimum qualifications to include experience as a Public Address
OpeY�.t�r and to modernize the style. The Civi.c Center does not intend to retai.n a full-
time sound specialist following the retirement of the incumbent and it wants to fill the
current vacancy for Stage Technician on th.e basis of future job requirements.
