An ordinance amending Chapter 331 of the Saint
Paul Legislative Code, pertaining to food licenses;
establishing a class of license for ��food shelf��
operations; amending the definition of ��readily
perishable food; " and establishing a standard for
the use of she11 eggs.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1.
That Section 331.02 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by
inserting under "Class A Grocery" the following class of
license:

Section 2.
That Section 331.07, paragraph 23, of the Saint Paul
Legislative Code be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
(23) Readily perishable food or potentially

milk, milk products, eggs, meat, poultry,
fish, �ke-ea�eass-s�-a�.�-a�}�a�-�-e�-a�� _

Section 3.
That Section 331.08 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code
be and the same is hereby amended by adding a subdivision
to read as follows:
Subd. 7 . Shell eggs. All shell e��s used by a
restaurant caterer nursin home school
charitable organiza ion or similar es ablishment
which re ares and serves food for human con-
sumption must be of Grade A at des ina ion,
or better, as that term is defined under the
Minnesota Department of Agriculture Rules Governing
Gandlir� and Gradin of E s 3 MCAR Sec. 1.038g H
and Sec. 1.0398 B .
Section 4.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days
from and after its passage, approval and publication.

What Will be Achieved by iaking Action on the Attached Materials? (Purpose/Rationale) :
"Food Shelf": relatively new type o� food operation for needy. Ten known facilities
which should be licensed and inspected to determine quality and source of food.
Definition of readily perishable to a7,so mean "potentially hazardaus food" for unifor-
mity with State Health Department and F.D.A. Currently, no requirement on quality
of eggs served raw (fruit juices). This sets the quality of eggs which may be served
raw.
