M E M O R A N D U M
CLAIMS AGAINST CITY OF SAINT PAUL BY
JAMES BEACOM , VERNELL SIGFORD, AND
MARION K. PODANY
On April 19 , 1983 , a City of Saint Paul main sewer back ed up and
caused a private sewer line owned by claimant , James Beacom , to
overflow and flood his basement . Mr , beacom ' s sewer line had to be
unplugged at an expense of $40 .00 . This office approves the settle-
ment of Mr . Beacom ' s claim in the amount of $40 .00 .
Claimant , Vernell Sigford , requests reimbursement for damages he
sustained to his automobile on May 26 , 1983 . Mr . Sigford was
passing a City of Saint Paul , Department of Public Works , street
sweeper while it was dumping a load of street debris and water into
a dump truck . The water and debris splattered Mr . Sigford ' s auto-
mobile with mud and chipped his windshield . It cost $351 .24 to
repair Mr . Sigford ' s vehicle . This office approves the settlement
of Mr .Sigford ' s claim in the amount of $351 .24 .
On March 4 , 1983 , claimant , Marion Podany , tripped and fell on a
sunken City of 5aint Paul sidewalk located on Summit Avenue between
Selby and kellogg Boulevard. As a result of her fall , she sustained
injuries and medical expenses . Our office settled Mrs . Podany ' s
claim f or $3 52 . 65 .
