WHEREAS, the "Penny Route" is a fundxaising event designed to help
bring money and public attention to the plight of America�s homeless
citizens;
WHEREAS, Todd Waters, a nati.ve Minnesotan, will ride the rails across
the country, from New Xprk City to Los Angeles, to raise a penny a mile in
pledges from contributors;
WHEREAS, the "�enny Route��has a $1 million goal and is expected to
take from 10-14 days starting on July 9 of this year;
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul tha.t the City of
Saint Paul commends all those participating in this noble endeavor; and,
be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul encourages
the railroad companies to cooperate in this endeavor; and, be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of St. Paul encourages
and supports Todd Watexs in this courageous effort and wishes him success
in his travels.
