00-235Councit Eile # oe -a.35 aR��iNA� Presented Referred To Committee Date 1 WFIEREAS, The River Centre Authority, Saint Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Ordway Center for the 2 PerForming Arts have been engaged in continuing discussions regazding the redevelopment, use, management and 3 funding of the Roy Wilkins Auditorium; and 4 WHEREAS, these entities have funded preliminary study of the Roy Wilkins Auditorium to assess its potential for 5 joint and expanded uses by these entities as well as the facility's consistency with requirements of the Americans 6 with Disabilities Act (ADA); and 7 WHEREAS, additional planning and preliminary design for the redevelopment of the Saint Paul River Centre's Roy 8 Wilkins Auditorium has been determined to be vital and necessary by the working group involving the River Centre 9 Authority, Saint Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Ordway Center for the PerForming Arts; and 10 WHEREAS, Minnesota Senate File 3452 proposes that the State provide $1,000,000 to the City of Saint Paul for ll continued planning and preliminary design regazding the redevelopment, use, management and funding of the Roy 12 Wilkins Auditorium; now, therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council and Mayor endorse, and request passage and adoption of, Senate File 14 3452 which will help to maintain the key role played by the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in the civic and cultural life of 15 Saint Paul, the Twin Cities metropolitan region and the State of Minnesota.
