WHEREAS, The City desires to construct a new bridge over Chicago Northwestern
Railroad tracks and its approaches, project limits are f rom Reaney Avenue to
Whitall Street; and
WHEREAS, The desirable roadway width of the new bridge and approaches is 46 feet,
existing right-of-way width is 66 f eet; and
WHEREAS, This does not conform to current Municipal State Aid Standards; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Tha.t we do hereby authorize the Dfrector of Public Works to request a
variance from Municipal State Aid Standards for this portion of Payne Avenue.

What Will be Achieved by Taking Action on the Attached Materials? (Purpose/Rationale):
PAYNE AVENUE: Whitall Street to Reaney Avenue. Public Works is requesting a variance to
construct the new bridge and approaches to 46 feet wide. Existing bridge is 40 feet wide
and approaches 46 feet. Present right-of-way width is 66 feet. If a variance is not
granted, the right-of way width would have to be increased and the property acquisition
funds would be insufficient. The attached Resolution i� required to initiate a request
for variaace to State Aid Standards.
