��EiE�EAS, the Summit University Stars Basketball team participated in and re-
cently won the Saint Paul City and Minnesota State Women's Amateur Athletic Union
Basketball championship; and
WHEREAS, as representatives of the City of Saint Paul in the Women's State AAU
Tournament the Summit University Stars have given the city much reason to be proud
with their team play and sports conduct; and
:JHEREAS, the Summit University Stars will go to the National AAU Championship
in Beaumo�t, Texas to represent the State of Minnesota; and
WNEREAS, the Summit University Stars as state champions are the first women's
team ever invited to the AAU Nationals from the State of Minnesota; and
'�IHEREAS, the Summit University Stars concluded their season with a 31-4 record;
and
L�HE�;EAS, the Summit University Stars promote sportsmanship, education, social
skills , cultural awareness and affirmative role r�odels through their public service
programs; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council commends the players for their community
service, their excellent basketball play and the coaches for their leadership acti-
vities and encouragement; and
TIiEREFORE, BE IT RE��LVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby
extends its congratulations and thanks to the Summit University Stars for their
accomplishments on a successful season of basketball play and further extends its best
wishes for a successful AAU National Basketball competition.
