WHEREAS, The committee of the Heritage Preservation Commission
has p�oposed altering the Fourth Street facade of the St. Paul Public
Library by constructing a glass and aluminum canopy over the ground
floor entrance; and
WHEREAS, The proposed canopy is totally out of charactex� with
this handsome and historic structure; and
WHEREAS, The Public Library is listed on the National Register
and any alteration should reflect an effort commensurate with its
architectural significance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City Council oppose the proposal and that
the Public Library remain in its original state.
