WHEREAS, Arlene E. Scheunemann has made significant contributions at
the Saint Paul Como Park Zoo as a volunteer for the past 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Scheunemann is an active, charter member of both the
Como Zoo Docents, the volunteer educational organization affiliated with
the Como Zoo and the Como Zoological Society, an organization dedicated to
the improvement of Como Zoo� and
WHEREAS, Mrs . Scheunemann has been instrumental in organizing and
scheduling educational tours since 1969 for the benefit of thousands of
zoo visitors; and
WNEREAS, her contributions have included foster parenting hundreds of
zoo animals, conducting numerous tours, serving on the board and as an
officer of the two zoo support groups, spending endless haurs on zoo design
and improvement committees, lobbying on behalf of the Como Zoo at the Minnesota
Legislature, organizing programming for civic events, and other activities too
extensive to list; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does recognize
Arlene Scheunemann's volu�teer efforts at the Saint Paul Como Zoo and does
order that a placque recognizing her accomplishments be placed in the new
primate building at the time of dedication of the new building.
