WHEREAS, the smoking of tobacco or any other weed or plant is a
danger to health and a cause of possibie health hazard for many City
of Saint Paul er�loyees; and
WHEREAS, the Joint Court House and City Hail Committee has passed
a Resolution defining "no srr�king areas" in the City Hali - Court House
Building since 1979; and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has aiso indicated a strong interest
in the health of Minnesota citizens via its Clean Indoor Air Act (Laws of
Minnesota 1975, 144.411-144.417) ; and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul also desires to protect the health,
comfort, and working environment of its ert�loyees as they may be affected
by smoking in various portions of buildings operated by the City; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVEO, that a Committee be appointed by the Mayor and ratified
by the Council , to draft a "smoki�g, no-smoking" policy that wiil be fair,
equitable, and applicable to all City of Saint Paul employees.
