WHEREAS, the Charter Commission of the City of Saint Paul
has held a public hearing and taken statements and testimony on
a proposal to establish a four-year term for the office of
council person; and
WHEREAS, the Cha.rter Commission, based on the testimony and
statements and its own deliberations , has recommended that the
cha.nge be submitted to the electorate at the general election to
be held on November 6, 1984 in accordance with law; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, that the proposed charter anendment be submitted to
the electorate of the City of Saint Paul at the general election to
be held November 6, 1984; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerl� is hereby directed to
take the necessary steps for publication of the proposed amendment
as may be required by law; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that pursuant to law the Council of the City
of Saint Paul hereby fixes the form of-�Yte q�.estion to be submitted
� to the electorate at the general .election November 6, 1984, relative
to this amendmen t to read as follows :
"Sha.11 Section 2.02 of the Charter of the City of Saint
Paul be amended to increase the term of office for council
person from two years to four years commencing on the
first business day of January of the year following
their election and until successors are elected and qualify?"
