WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Ciry Council approved the establishment of an Off-Leash Dog Area (OLDA) az
the south end of Arlington/Arkwright Pazk on October 25, 2000, and
4 AS, the City of Saint Paul, Division of Parks and Recrearion has received a dona6on of $2,000 from
5 Benson for the establishment of the off-leash dog azea at the south end of Arlington/Arkwright Pazk will
6 need addirional fencing and sign age installed to create a safe and well mazked recreational area at the projected
7 cost of approximately $3,500

9 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Division of Parks and Recreation desires to establish a financing and spending
10 plan for this donation in the amount of $2,000, and

12 WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the Ciry of Saint Paul, does certify that
13 there aze available for appropriation, funds of $2,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2000 budget; and

15 WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following additions be made to the 2000 budget:

Arlington/Arkwright Park. Additional fencing and signage will be installed to enclose the OLDA pottion of the park from
the other park activities and to add signage which will provide rules, boundaries and a map. These installation will cost
Parks and Recreation approximately 53,500. Supporters of the Off-Leash Dog Area have made financial contributions to
the Division of Parks and Recreation to help detray the cost of these improvements to the park.
ADVANTAGES IF APPRO VED:
Donations witl be accepted and used towards the cost of fencing and signage at Arlington/Arkwright Park which witl
help reduce the impact on the Parks and Recreation budget.
