WHEREAS, the week of March 4- 11 is officially designated as
Women's History Week, to promote understanding of women's history in
the United States , and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Humanities Commission , the Minnesota
Historical Society and Women Historians of the Midwest are beginning
this observance jointly sponsorin� a presentation by renowned
historian , Dr . Gerda Lerner , The Majority Finds its Past : A

Discussion of theoretical Frameworks for Placing Women in History" ,
and
WHEREAS, to adequately understand the evolving participation of
both men and women in today's society, we must gain insights from the
past , Now, Therefore , Be It
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of St. Paul does
hereby applaud the commitment to fuller understanding inherent in this
event and in the on�oing work of Women Historians of the Midwest.
