RE: County Light Duty Jobs Program
Ramsey County began a light duty jobs program about a year ago
wherein they assign county employees to light duty jobs within
the Courthouse and the Adult Detention Center. The funding for
this program comes through the Joint Court House and City Hall
Committee as part of the regular janitorial charges .
In order for these funds to be released resolutions accepting
this action need to be passed by the Committee, the Ramsey County
Board, and the City Council. Attached is a resolution authorizing
release of those funds .
The City currently is exploring entry into this program, as well
as the possibility of initiating a similar program within each
City Department .

Dear A1:
The Joint Court House & City Hall Committee at its meeting
of May 2, 1983 referred a request to the St. Paul City
Council for its consideration.
The Ramsey County Board approved a pilot program (Resolution
4683-195 dated March 21, 1983) which utilizes county employees
who are partially disabled due to Workers' Compensation
injuries, but are able to perform some types of light duty
work. This pilot program is explained more fully in the
attached documentation.
Miles McGinley, City Property Manager and Tom Weyandt, Assistant
City Attorney, are interested in a similar program for the
city based on the county's success in its pilot program
which is under the direction of Tom McDonough, Building
Superintendent.
Would yov please take steps to place this matter before the
City Council for their consideration? I have attached the
documentation that was before the Counrv Board and the Joint
Court House & City Hall Committee. Any. further information
can be had from Tom McDonougfi.
Sincerely yours, ~
